About Me
Matthew Skinner is a dedicated and experienced professional with a diverse background in both military and energy sectors. Serving in the 1st Ranger Battalion Special Operations Group from 2004 to 2008, and deploying on multiple combat deployments, Matthew demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to his duties.
Transitioning to the oilfield in 2012, Matthew began his career innovating in the field of water management by building saltwater recycle plants in northwest Oklahoma. He then became a roughneck with H&P Drilling simultaneously while attending college. He holds a Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering from OU’s Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy, and an Executive MBA in Energy with the Price College of Business, also at the University of Oklahoma.
Starting his professional career as a drilling engineer with Continental Resources, Matthew oversaw critical operations in the Bakken play of North Dakota, gaining invaluable experience and expertise. He was tasked with Team Lead, collaborating with geology, land, reservoir, completions, production, and facilities for North Drilling. In 2017, he founded Ezekiel Exploration to provide contract consulting services in Reservoir analysis, Drilling design and execution, as well as Completions design and implementation for private and independent developers. Under his leadership, Ezekiel Exploration has successfully operated wells across the Bakken (ND, MT, Southern Canada), Stack and SCOOP (OK), Permian (TX & NM), Eagle Ford (TX), and various salt dome plays in northeast Texas.
Ezekiel Exploration is driven by a mission to enhance abandoned resources, acquire undeveloped acreage, and implement re-entry well programs that convert vertical to horizontal access. Matthew’s leadership is grounded in Faith, guided by the Spirit, and empowered by God, reflecting the core values of his organization.
